Dear Concerned Friends,
As many of you already know Quaker Meadow is under an evacuation
order from the US Department of Forestry. Currently myself, along
with Matt Lusk and his family are residing in a small cabin in the
town of Camp Nelson. I understand that many speculations are being
drawn about the current state of Quaker Meadow and the rest of the
summer camping season.
I would first like to inform everyone that Quaker Meadow is in no
immediate danger, and the winds have provided a barrier from the
ash and smoke maintaining the camp's beauty. All efforts are being
focused to save camp and the surrounding Ponderosa community. The
fire is currently being held approximately three miles from the
Peppermint Work Station (near Dome Rock). Crews are working day
and night to contain the fire. We've been informed that the fire
could be contained as early as Sunday.
I would also like to let you know that we are still planning to resume
the normal summer schedule beginning with High School 2.
Please continue to pray for the safety of the Firemen and all of the
crews working to protect Quaker Meadow, as well as safety and wisdom
for the QM staff. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to
contact the QM office(888)704-9393, or myself (714)
394-9418.
In Him,
Chris Sterry
