Pictures taken by staff from Dome Rock on July 21st hours after the fire started.
It is important to note the Quaker Meadow is NOT currently in any immediate danger.
The fire is 10% contained.
To date the firefighting effort has cost $5.2 million.

Quaker Meadow is not in any immediate danger, however, High School II has been canceled for logistical reasons.
High School III has NOT been canceled.

The fire has not breached the Western Divide highway to the Bakersfield side at any point so far.
All fire lines at the Dome Rock area and around the Ponderosa in general are holding, but fires are still burning.
The fire has been slowed down at upper elevations by a very heavy inversion layer of dense smoke.
The aggressive "Hot Spot" part of the fire is rapidly moving North and East towards the Rincon Trail area. (away from Camp)
Looking South from Dome rock the entire valley is burned from Johnsondale out toward the North Fork of the Kern River.
Sometime yesterday a small fire started near the intersection of the Needles lookout road and the Highway. It was put out.

The fire grew slowly yesterday only gaining 7,000 acres.
Fire fighting crews plan to create a defendable boundary up to Peppermint. This will help protect Ponderosa and Quaker Meadow.

The Associated Press reports that the fire was 5% contained by Wednesday evening.
By Wednesday evening the fire had consumed 57,000 acres.
The woman arrested in connection with the fire admitted to accidentally setting the blaze while trying to cook
hotdogs at her campsite.

The Associated Press reports that authorities have arrested a woman believed to be responsible for the fire.

The McNally fire has been upgraded from a Type 2 incident to Type 1, signalling the highest level of national priority for fire fighting resources.
Currently the fire has a perimeter about 50 miles long. Sources close to the fire believe "it will take weeks" to fully contain, and the fire won't be out
completely until the snows come.
Officials believe the fire was "human caused", but have not specified whether the fire was known to be accidental or maliciously started

The Associated Press reports that the fire is 20% contained and burning in the Kern river Plateau area SW of the Needles lookout.
The fire had burned more than 48,200 acres by 3 PM Tuesday

The wind has shifted and the fire is burning in the opposite direction as Quaker Meadow. Praise God!

Preliminary reports indicate that the fire was burning around the Dome Rock area.

Camp was evacuated on Monday evening. Campers were bussed home and permanent staff stayed in Bakersfield.
